The infusion set is a medical device that allows intravenous administration of various infusion solutions by gravity. The device is a tube that connects to the solution container and the patient’s arm via a venous catheter. It consists of different parts: the spike, a small awl used to perforate the solution container; the air inlet for gravity infusions; the drip chamber, which is transparent and allows the medical personnel to see the descent of the solution or drug; the solution filter, a flow regulator similar to a small wheel that allows the adjustment of the amount of solution to be administered; and finally, the connector, which mediates the connection to the venous catheter.
