INSULIN SYRINGE
The insulin syringe is a special type of syringe that is used for subcutaneous injection of insulin in individuals who have insulin-dependent diabetes. The insulin syringe consists of three components: a needle, a barrel, and a plunger. The needle is short and very thin, and is covered with a thin layer of silicone to reduce pain during injection. The barrel is a transparent container that holds the insulin and has gradated lines by which the level of the drug can be easily read. The plunger is a long, thin rod that fits comfortably inside the syringe barrel, allowing the insulin to be suctioned from the bottle or pushed out by sliding it up and down. The plunger also features a rubber gasket at the lower end that prevents any drug leakage.
