Irrigation Syringe
The irrigation syringe is made of non-toxic, non-pyrogenic plastic and is used to irrigate wounds, ears, or eyes. It is also used for enteral feeding. The syringe consists of three components: a Luer Slip tip, a barrel, and a plunger. The barrel is a transparent container that holds irrigation fluid and presents gradated lines by which the level of the liquid can be easily read. The plunger is a rod that fits comfortably inside the syringe barrel and allows the saline or water to be pushed out by sliding it up and down through the Luer Slip tip. When pressed, the gasket at the end of the plunger seals the barrel containing the irrigation fluid.
