TRANSFUSION SET
A transfusion set transfuses blood and blood components by gravity and pressure (by using compatible volumetric infusion pumps). It is composed of a tube that connects to the blood bag and the patient’s arm via a venous catheter, and consists of different parts: the injection port, a small plastic spike used to perforate the blood bag; a built-in air inlet with an air filter for gravity infusions; one large drip chamber, which is transparent and allows the medical personnel to see the descent of the blood; the transfusion filter?a flow regulator with one large roller clamp?which allows the adjustment of the amount of solution to be administered; and the connector, which mediates the connection to the venous needle.
